What is Pine Bark? (Origin & Sourcing)

Sustainably sourced from New Zealand forests
Radiata pine bark used by PINUX comes from eco-managed forests in New Zealand — a region known for its clean environment and advanced forestry system. This bark, once a by-product of the wood industry, is now a valuable natural resource rich in functional phytochemicals.

1
Rich in Functional Compounds

Radiata pine bark contains high concentrations of proanthocyanidins and flavonoids, which are powerful natural antioxidants that can account for over 50% of the bark’s composition in some species.
2
Sustainably Sourced from New Zealand

Radiata pine bark, derived from eco-managed forests, is a renewable by-product of the forestry industry. This ensures environmental responsibility and a traceable, quality supply.
3
Proven Scientific and Industrial Value

Decades of research have proven its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and protective activities, making it ideal for cosmetics, food, and nutraceutical applications.
Proanthocyanidins (PA)

Pine bark is rich in proanthocyanidins and flavonoids, which are important functional phytochemicals. In certain pine species, these compounds have been reported to account for over 50% of the bark's total composition.

The table shows the proanthocyanidin (PA) content and antioxidant activity of hot-water extracts from various pine bark species.
Among the tested species, Pinus radiata exhibited one of the highest PA concentrations (404 mg/g) and strong antioxidant activity (DPPH scavenging 92.5% at 25 µg/mL).
These results indicate that Radiata pine bark is a rich source of bioactive compounds with significant antioxidant potential.

The table compares the polyphenol (PP) composition of bark residues from different Pinus species.
The bark of Pinus radiata contained the highest total polyphenol fraction (55.0%) among the tested varieties, confirming its exceptional concentration of functional phenolic components.
These findings highlight Radiata pine bark as an optimal raw material for extracting high-value antioxidant ingredients.

Superior Stability of
PINUX Compared to Pure Vitamin C

As shown in the data, the initial antioxidant activity in a low-concentration environment is slightly higher with pure Vitamin C compared to PINUX. However, the data also indicate that pure Vitamin C shows a rapid decline in stability and sustained activity when compared to PINUX.
